Graduate Students Recognized by the Poultry Science Association

PhD candidate George Hall has been named the winner of the Alltech Student Research Manuscript Award. This award is given to a graduate student for the presentation and publication as senior author of an outstanding research manuscript in Poultry Science® or The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. George is carrying out research in Dr. Grégoy Bédécarrats lab and has recently published two independent studies in Poultry Science:

Prof. Receives 2021 UGFA Distinguished Professor Award for Excellence in Teaching

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Wendy Pearson, Professor of Equine Physiology, has been awarded the 2021 UGFA Distinguished Professor Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Ontario Agricultural College.  The awards are handed out on an annual basis, one for each college and recognize faculty for their contribution towards teaching and learning. Nominations may be made by students and faculty. 

Aquaculture Start-Up Competing in Global Aquaculture Challenge

Wittaya Aqua, a start-up company co-founded by ABSc Prof. Dominique Bureau, has been selected from over 120 applicants as 1 of 8 finalists for the Global Aquaculture Challenge 2021. Based on mathematical models developed by Bureau's research group, the Canadian smart-farming company provides software solutions for aquaculture farm and feed management and employs several former graduate students. The finalists will make their pitches on Oct 7.
