Short Biography

Lucas obtained his Bachelor’s in Animal Scince in 2016 and his Master’s degree in Genetics and Animal Breeding in 2019 from the <aSão Paulo State University, Brazil. During his undergraduate studies, he acquired experience mainly in the fields of Poultry and Meat Science where he won the Best Undergraduate Scientific Project for the course of animal Science. Lucas was also an intern for a private company inside the Brazilian Beef Production chain. He was also a member of the research group for Food Technology and Processing of Animal Products, as well as in the Monogastric Nutrition Lab.  
During his Master´s he improved his skills in Genetics and Statistics His thesis aimed to investigate the relationships between variables in a beef herd utilizing a Multivariate Statistic methodology. His research interests and the opportunities for new challenges brought him to the University of Guelph in 2020 for a Ph.D. in Animal Biosciences, where he seeks to understand the underlying genetic mechanism related to the feed efficiency and the methane emission in the Canadian Dairy Cattle.
