MSc student Sarah Dean at the 2024 ANCC

Congratulations to Sarah Dean, an MSc student in Dr. Marcio Duarte's lab, on taking home first place in the Student Oral Competition (ruminant category) at Animal Nutrition Conference of Canada (ANCC) 2024! With support from the Beef Cattle Research Council, NSERC and OMAFRA, Sarah is investigating the effects of vitamin A supplementation on beef cattle development and meat quality traits. Her research has recently been published in the journal Meat and Muscle Biology and she will be defending her Master's by Fall 2024.

You can watch Sarah's winning video abstract along with submissions from other candidates, including MSc student Katie Kroeze from the Wood lab at: https://www.anacan.org/ancc-graduate-student-competition-2024-video-abstracts/.  Sarah and Katie were also featured this past winter in behind the scenes features from Beef@Guelph.
