Current Opportunity: MSc (2 years) Position in Computational Biology (Dairy)

An MSc position (2 years) is available in the laboratory of Dr. Dan Tulpan with a start date of Jan, May or Sept, 2021.

The project will focus on computational/automatic detection and monitoring of antibiotic usage in dairy cattle. We will collaborate with OVC and Lactanet researchers.

Candidates must be interested in learning new computational analytical tools, advanced modeling techniques and learn how to write code to automate tasks.

Prof. Ian Duncan on W5

Prof. Ian Duncan will be making a brief appearance this Saturday on W5 on CTV at 7pm to discuss the issue of animal abuse onl farms in Ontario. 

Prof. Duncan is a pioneer of animal welfare science, and has spent much of his career developing methods of “asking” farm animals what they feel about the conditions in which they are kept and the procedures to which they are subjected; Dr. Duncan has expertise and knowledge of animal welfare in general, and of poultry welfare in particular. 

New ABSc Graduate Coordinator

Prof. Wendy Pearson has been named the new Graduate Coordinator. Prof. Pearson joined ABSc in 2016 as an Assitant Professor and runs a collaborative research program focused on the use of neutraceuticals to treat inflammatory conditions in horses. She also has several years of experience on the Graduate Program Committe and will work closely with outgoing Grad Coordiantor Prof. Niel Karrow until she takes over from him in January 2021.
