Position/Title: M.Sc. student
-B.Sc in Agriculture, major in Animal Science, Sichuan Agriculture University
-Current M.Sc by coursework in Animal Physiology
Advisor: Dr.Niel Karrow
My master project will involve in vitro heat stress experiments in white blood cells from cattle that have been previously stress phenotyped. Cattle are particularly susceptible to heat stress because of their high metabolic rate. Meanwhile, heat stress can adversely affect immune function and cause animals to be susceptible to disease. The aim of my project is to assess the effect of in vitro heat stress on the white cells of cattle and to obtain some data to determine if the white cells are hyperimmune.
In the summer of 2021, I received a BSc. in Agriculture, Animal Science at the Sichuan Agriculture University in China. I developed my interest in animal health in Dr.Karrow's class in my undergraduate university(SAU), which was the reason why I came here. Currently, due to covid-19, I just take online classes in China without doing any experiment in person. I plan to come to University of Guelph in the winter semester 2022, and I will update my profile after I join Karrow's lab.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing table tennis, playing basketball, hiking and cooking.
