Education:
- Bachelor of Science ~ Major in Animal Biology with a Minor in Nutrition and Nutraceautical Sciences (UofG, 2017-2021)
- Current Masters by Thesis Student under Michael Steele's supervision with expected graduation by 2024

Work Experience:
- Research Assistant (April 2021 - December 2021) ~ Univeristy of Guelph
      - Involved in the execution of many research experiements involving dairy and beef cattle
      - Advanced my knowledge of lab techniques and data analysis
      - Assisted in creating posters for seminars as well as creating an abstract on Predicting Live Weight using Linear Body Measurements in Growing Dairy Calves

My Research:
- I am currently doing my research thesis on the investigation of a yeast probiotic Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii supplementation to improve gut function in peripartum dairy cattle. This will be in collaboration with my lab member and Post-Doc Arnulfo Pineda Baide. The objective of this experiment will be to improve gut function and overall health and welfare of dairy cattle transitioning from late pregnancy to lactation. An experiment will be conducted where 80 Holstein cattle will be fed either a diet containing or not containing the yeast probiotic. Samples will be collected and analyzed to understand if this probiotic will alleviate the negative effects of gut dysfunction and more specifically leaky gut. To learn more about why this period in a dairy cows life is so crucial and needs further advancements to improve overall health and welfare, you can read this paper on the Major advances in disease prevention in dairy cattle. The hopeful findings of this study will directly benefit dairy producers by reducing detrimental diseases causing gut dysfunction, ultimately increasing dairy cattle welfare and profitability. I have a strong passion and drive to leave a beneficial impact to improve the welfare of dairy cattle while also creating large enhancements in the Agriculture and Food Science sector, where I hope to continue this after my degree whether in academia or industry related position.

About Me:
- I grew up in a small town out in the country where I fell in love with animals and knew from a young age my dream was to study at the University of Guelph. I love being outdoors whether its hiking, playing with my two dogs or spending time at my cottage! Throughout my undergrad I played varsity field hockey where I continued my love of sports and competiton from playing ice hockey at a young age to now! Through my undergrad I have realized my love for research and hope to presue a career where I am able to keep learning new ideas and information.
