My passion for animal agriculture has shaped my academic and professional path, driving my commitment to sustainable animal nutrition practices. Growing up on a small-scale mixed farm in rural Kenya, I developed a deep connection with animal care. To advance my expertise, I completed a master’s degree under the mentorship of Professor Charles Gachuiri (University of Nairobi) and Professor Elijah Kiarie (University of Guelph). As part of this program. My research focused on improving utilization of alternative feed ingredients by pretreating them with exogenous fiber degrading enzymes. This research provided critical insights and formed the basis for my current Ph.D. work.
My Ph.D. study at the University of Guelph focuses on broiler chicken and pig production, with an emphasis on enhancing feed use and mitigating environmental implications, particularly on nitrogen emissions. I investigate cutting-edge processing techniques that result in the creation of highly digested protein feedstuffs that improve protein retention, reduce the need for antibiotics, and reduce nitrogen emissions and nutrient waste. With Professor Elijah Kiarie's help, I believe I can positively impact animal nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture practices. My goal is to contribute to feeding the globe while ensuring environmental preservation and sustainability.
