About Me

I grew up in the small farming community of Langton in Norfolk County, Ontario. Here, I had the opportunity to be raised on my family’s tobacco farm with a passion for agriculture instilled in me since birth. More recently, we have converted our family farm into a cash crop operation. This is where my interest in crop use as animal feeds was first developed. This interest has inspired me to pursue a future career as a nutritonist.

Current Education

I am currently a MSc student in Dr. Elijah Kiarie’s lab. For my current research, I am looking at the impact of the inclusion of LIVALTA’s hydrolyzed yeast cell walls into the diet of laying hens with fellow pHD student Anderson Maina. In this project, we are looking at the transfer of immunoglobins from the yeast into the eggs, along with egg quality characteristics such as egg weight, shell thickness and breakability across different inclusion levels of the yeast. Furthermore, I am looking into the effects on feed conversion, organ health, and various blood parameters of the hens.
