Grad Student Success at the Canadian Poultry Research Forum!

Posted on Wednesday, July 7th, 2021

Congratulations to our amazing students and CCSAW members who took 2 out of 3 presentation awards at the first annual Canadian Poultry Research Forum held June 21-23!

MSc candidate Renee Garant won the 5 minute oral presentation category for her talk on "The role of intact flight feathers on elevated resource access of laying hens housed in multi-tiered systems". PhD candidate Claire Mindus, who recently won U of G's 3MT competition, took first prize in the poster presentation category for "Modulation of the proportion of immune cells and feather-pecking behaviour following probiotic supplementation in laying hens". The winners each received a $150 prize sponsored by Hendrix Genetics.

The Canadian Poultry Research Forum was stablished by The Canadian Poultry Science Network and the Poultry Innovation Partnership to bring together students and research practitioners for a virtual experience featuring the latest in research across Canada, virtual tours of research facilities, social networking and an exciting poster and trade show experience.  This was an excellent opportunity to connect with students as they practice their presentation skills and develop into the industry leaders of tomorrow!

Job well done ABSc grad students!
