Good afternoon CGIL,

We are happy to have with us Vera van der Heijden, a geneticist at Hendrix Genetics, to present this Friday, November 4th, 2022. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The title of the presentation is: "Wonders of the deep: Aquaculture breeding".

Speaker Biography: Vera van der Heijden completed her bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences at Wageningen University in 2014, and shortly after began her Master’s at Wageningen, specializing in animal breeding and genetics, quantitative genetics and terrestrial animals. In Dec 2016, Vera started working at Hendrix Genetics Aquaculture as a geneticist. During the years that followed, Vera specialized in Atlantic and Coho salmon breeding but also has experience working with Rainbow Trout and Whiteleg shrimp. Vera mainly focuses on data processing, development of new traits and selection of candidates.
