We are happy to have Dr. Jennifer McClure, from the USDA Dairy Forage Research Center presenting for us on Friday, March 20th, 2026. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Genetic defect recording- Searching for something no one wants to talk about” 
 
Speaker Biography:  Jennifer McClure received her BS in Animal sciences in 2003 and her PhD in veterinary Pathobiology from the University of Missouri, Columbia in in 2010. Her PhD focused on the use of canines as a model for the tick-borne pathogen, Ehrlichia. Following her PhD she worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in Dr. Abdu Azad’s lab where she focused on immune modulation in the tick host. In 2013, Jennifer moved to Ireland to work for the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation where she developed a health and disease program for cattle farmers, a national genetic defect reporting system, and coordinated ICBF’s role in a multi-million Euro grant. In 2019, Jennifer began her work at the USDA Dairy Forage Research Center in Madison, WI. Her current role as a Research Animal Scientist focuses on the rumen microbiome and how it effects dairy cow health and efficiency.
