Hello CGIL,
We are happy to have Tatiane Chud, from PEAK, presenting for us on Friday, January 16th, 2026. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Balancing Elite Progress with the Power of Diversity”.
Speaker Biography: Dr. Tatiane Chud is a Research Geneticist at PEAK a subsidiary of URUS Group, based in Madison, Wisconsin. In her current role, she is responsible for developing new traits and indexes, primarily for dairy, while managing the PEAK genomic database and providing technical support to the subsidiaries of URUS Group. Her work focuses on creating applied breeding strategies and statistical models to advance sustainable animal production across the organization’s global portfolio.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Chud worked as a geneticist in the swine industry. She also served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Guelph, where she was the Scientific and Data Manager for the Efficient Dairy Genome Project from 2018 to 2021. During this time, she specialized in genetic evaluations for methane emissions and feed efficiency in Canadian dairy cattle. Dr. Chud earned her Ph.D. in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Sao Paulo State University (Brazil) in 2018, which included time as a visiting researcher at AGIL-USDA in Maryland. She also served as a visiting scientist at the University of Guelph during her master’s studies and completed an international undergraduate internship.
Beyond her research, Tatiane is a proud mom to a two-year-old daughter who already shares her deep love for animals. Tatiane’s scientific curiosity naturally carries over into motherhood, where she has immersed herself in learning about child brain development, child behavior, and how our environment affects health. She has learned that the secret to balancing a demanding career and parenthood is finding joy in the chaos, a perspective she believes enriches both her personal life and her work.
