Good morning CGIL,
This week we are happy to have Dr. Ewa Sell-Kubiak, an Assistant Professor at Poznan University of Life Sciences, presenting for us on Friday, January 17th, 2025. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Genetics of trait's variability – the importance of finding an optimum in production and reproduction in livestock”
Speaker Bio: Ewa Sell-Kubiak is an Assistant Professor at Poznan University of Life Sciences, specializing in animal breeding and statistical genomics, with a primary focus on pigs and additional work on other species. Her research explores the genetic basis of reproductive traits in pigs, simulations of breeding objectives, GWAS, and genomic breeding value estimation. She actively participates in two EU Horizon projects: mEATquality, where she serves as WP1 leader, and Re-Livestock, where she contributes as a WP3 scientist. Additionally, she is a Management Committee member for two COST Actions: EU-LI-PHE and Insect-IMP. Ewa also holds prominent leadership roles, serving as Vice-President of the Animal Genetics Commission at EAAP and President of the Permanent Committee of the World Congress of Genetics Applied to Livestock Production.
