Good morning CGIL,  

This week we are happy to have Dr. Matthew Spangler a professor at University of Nebraska-Lincoln presenting for us on Friday, September 27th, 2024. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Improving the accuracy of predictions and the decisions made with them in beef cattle”.  

Speaker biography: Matt Spangler grew up on a diversified crop and livestock farm in Kansas. He received degrees from Kansas State University (BS; 2001), Iowa State University (MS; 2003), and the University of Georgia (PhD; 2006) and is currently a Professor of Animal Genetics and Extension Beef Genetics Specialist at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). His research work focuses on quantitative genetics and genomics in livestockAs part of this effort, he works closely with livestock industries, particularly beef, to implement improved genetic selection tools and methods.
