About Me
I am currently a M.Sc. student working with Dr. Michael Steele. I graduated from Dalhousie University in 2021, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science. I grew up in St. John's, Newfoundland, where I began working on a dairy farm as a teenager. This work grew my interest in dairy cattle and the dairy industry, leading me to complete an Undergraduate degree in agriculture. Throughout my undergrad, I had the opportunity to work on a variety of farms, including dairy, sheep, and aquaculture farms, and I was also able to assist graduate students with their research and conduct a study of my own in my fourth year. This sparked a passion for research, leading me to a research assistant position in the Steele lab, which then led into an M.Sc. opportunity.
My current research focuses on feeding colostrum to dairy calves past the first day of life, and its effects on the performance, health, gut, and microbiome of the calf. I hope to use this research to help producers develop feeding strategies to improve the health and growth of their calves.
