Dr. Pablo Fonseca has an honors bachelor’s degree in Biological Science (2012) and a Master of Science (2014) and Ph.D. in Genetics (2018) with an emphasis in Genomics and Bioinformatics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Since 2018, he is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Guelph under the supervision of Dr. Angela Canovas, developing studies focused on the identification of genomic regions and metabolic pathways associated with reproductive and production traits in livestock species. He has experience in high-density genotyping data analysis, next-generation sequencing, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), multi-omics analysis, Statistical Genetics, Machine Learning applied to functional genetics, and System Biology. The main goals of his research are the development of bioinformatics and statistical tools for the identification of candidate genes for complex traits, functional analysis to identify biological processes regulating economically relevant traits, data-mining, and data integration.
