Kristen graduated with academic distinctions from the University of Guelph's Honours Molecular Biology and Genetics program. Her passion for animals and genetics has  lead  her to further her education by obtaining a Master's degree from the Animal and Poultry Science department alongside associate professor Dr. Andy Robinson. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate with Drs. Flavio Schenkel and Mehdi Sargolzaei working on the ten thousand cow genome project. Kristen is the founder and president of the Animal Biosciences graduate student council,  and works with her team to improve student life and promote collaborations between the labs within the Animal Biosciences department. She is also the Graduate Teaching Community college lead for the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC), where she is responsible for conducting discipline-specific workshops for new and seasoned graduate teaching assistants within all departments of the OAC. Kristen tutors students in a number of undergraduate Molecular Biology and Genetics courses, and hopes to one day become a professor at the University of Guelph.
