My passion for animal agriculture has shaped my academic and professional trajectory, driving a sustained commitment to sustainable animal nutrition. Growing up on a small-scale mixed farm in rural Kenya fostered a deep appreciation for animal care and agricultural systems, which motivated my pursuit of advanced training in animal nutrition. I completed my master’s degree under the mentorship of Professor Charles Gachuiri at the University of Nairobi and  Professor Elijah Kiarie at the University of Guelph. My research focused on improving the utilization of alternative feed ingredients through pretreatment with exogenous fiber-degrading enzymes. This work generated critical insights into feed efficiency and nutrient utilization and laid the foundation for my current Ph.D. research.

My Ph.D. studies at the University of Guelph focus on broiler chicken and pig production, with an emphasis on improving feed utilization while mitigating environmental impacts, particularly nitrogen emissions. My research investigates innovative processing strategies that enhance protein digestibility and retention, reduce nutrient waste, and support reduced reliance on antibiotics. Through this work, I aim to develop highly digestible protein feedstuffs that contribute to more efficient and environmentally responsible livestock production systems.

Under the mentorship of Professor Elijah Kiarie's, I seek to generate applied, evidence-based solutions that advance sustainable animal nutrition. My long-term goal is to contribute meaningfully to global food security while promoting environmental stewardship and sustainability in animal agriculture.
