Good morning CGIL,
This week we are happy to have Dr. Pablo Fonseca a post-doctoral fellow at Universidad de Leon presenting for us on Friday, October 4th, 2024. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Investigating the Genetic Basis of Feed Efficiency, Sustainability, and Resilience on Spanish Dairy Sheep through Omics Integration”.
Speaker biography: Dr. Fonseca obtained his B.Sc. in Biology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). Subsequently, he completed his PhD and MSc degree in Genetics with an emphasis in Genomics and Bioinformatics at the same University. From 2017 to 2021, he joined the group of Dr. Cánovas at CGIL, first as a visiting student (2017-2018) and later as a Post-Doctoral Fellow (2018-2021). Since 2022, he has joined the MEGA-Ule group at the Universidad de Leon (Leon, Spain), as a Post-Doctoral Fellow through a grant from the European Union for the attraction of talents. In the next months, he will be joining the Instituto de Ganadería de Montaña from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) as a Tenured Scientist. Dr. Fonseca has experience in the development of bioinformatic and statistical tools to integrate omics data to identify potential biomarkers associated with production, reproduction, sustainability, and health-related traits in livestock species.

Information to attend: To join this seminar, please ensure you have downloaded the Microsoft Teams application to your computer or join the meeting online using the web browser version of Microsoft Teams. Please join the meeting with your microphone on mute and the camera turned off.
