Animal Breeding

Welcome. This site contains historical details of my career at the University of Guelph which began in 1973. My research has been primarily in dairy cattle breeding, but I have also collaborated on projects involving beef cattle, swine, dairy goats, sheep, warmblood horses, and rainbow trout. My main contributions have been to computing genetic evaluations using the Iteration on Data technique, to the international comparison of dairy bulls using MACE, and to the analysis of test day records using random regression models. These topics have allowed other researchers to make improvements upon the original work, and applications to many related problem areas. In cosmic time, however, my existence has been but one heartbeat of the universe. In another heartbeat, my life and work will be forgotten.
