Minutes were taken, hours were consumed, but was anything accomplished?

Committees are usually needed to reach a concensus about a problem. However, the choice of people on the committee can greatly bias the outcome of the committee towards a particular result.

Every committee has at least one loud voice that influences the direction of discussion, squashes some possibly good ideas, and often minimizes the effectiveness of the committee.

Committees feel compelled to "do something" even when the best course of action is to not change anything.

If the agenda is essentially the same, meeting after meeting, year after year, then the committee is likely not needed.

In general, there are too many useless committees.
