The main features of smooth (1), cardiac (2), and skeletal muscle (3).
- SMOOTH muscle is composed of sheets of mononucleate cells without visible striations
- CARDIAC muscle of the heart is composed of mostly uninucleate cells (some have 2 nuclei) forming branched fibers with transverse striations
- SKELETAL muscle that forms meat is composed of long, unbranched, multinucleate fibers with transverse striations
