We are pleased to welcome Dr. Joseph Waddell from Cornell University to present a special Centre for Nutrition Modelling (CNM) seminar titled:

“From Electric Fish to Digital Cows”

Speaker bio:

Joseph Waddell is a Postdoctoral Associate in Dr. Kristan Reed’s research group, in the Department of Animal Science at Cornell University. His work is part of the Ruminant Farm Systems (RuFaS) project, a whole-farm model that simulates dairy production and environmental impact. There he is contributing to optimizations in ration formulation, animal management algorithms, and the design and implementation of sensitivity analyses for the model as a whole. Prior to his work in digital agriculture, he attended the University of Central Florida for his PhD in Conservation Biology, where he spent much of his time in the Peruvian Amazon. There, he studied the ecology and evolution of Neotropical electric fish (order Gymnotiformes) and was selected as a National Geographic Society “Young Explorer”. He expanded on those studies as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Integrative and Computational Neuroscience Department at the Clemente Estable Biological Research Institute in Montevideo, Uruguay.
