Boareki has been always passionate about in Animal Breeding and Genetics from a young age. He obtained his BSc (2011) from Idaho State University in Biological Science and his MSc (2017) from the University of Guelph in Animal and Poultry Science, where he specialized in animal breeding under the supervision of Dr. Flavio Schenkel. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Guelph with Dr. Angela Canovas, where he is working on a project funded by OMAFRA that aims to understand the genetic and metabolic aspects associated with the economically important traits of nematode parasite resistance/resilience in sheep by using cutting edge transcriptomics and systems biology. The gain of such knowledge and understanding of the functional aspects involving genetic expression and its structural variations could help to gain better accuracy in predicting and identifying best animals to be selected as parents for the next generation.
