Graduate Student - M.Sc. by thesis
- DVM - University of São Paulo, Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering (USP - FZEA)
Ivan Campos is a MSc. student in Animal Breeding and Genetics under Dr. Flavio Schenkel’s supervision. In 2014 he conducted a scientific research focused on genomics, which involved high-density panels of molecular markers SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) used in Nellore cattle. He also made a model of database to use for data in large scale alongside Dr. Ricardo Ventura. Since then, he has developed an interest in Genetics and Animal Breeding, as well as in the usage of computational tools for research in the field.
In 2017, he earned a scholarship from the University of São Paulo to do an internship as a researcher in the University of Guelph, at The Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock (CGIL).
Currently, Ivan is involved in a project about boar taint in a collaboration with the CGIL research group and the Canadian Centre for Swine Improvement (CCSI). The project consists of investigating the usage of genetic selection to reduce boar taint in the population of pigs in Canada.
