Winners Announced for Creative Expression of Research Competition

The ABSc Graduate Student Council is excited to announce this year's winner of the Creative Expression of Research Competition! It was a close vote this year and the ABSc GSC would like to thank everyone for showing so much support to our participants. 

The late Dr. John Walton honored with Founders Award from North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge

In 2016, the North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC) organization established the Dairy Challenge Founders Award to recognize those with extraordinary, consistent contributions and/or distinguished service to NAIDC. During the past 5 years, 12 Founders were awarded and recognized. This past weekend, another 6 Founders Awards were given out, including one to the late Dr.

Congratulations to UofG's Dairy Challenge team that competed in the 2023 North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge this past week in Saratoga Springs, New York. Our team did us proud with a first-place finish!

On March 8, the Department of Animal Biosciences joins in the celebration of International Women's Day to acknowledge the incredible achievements of women. This year's global theme - "Embrace Equity" - aims to raise awareness about discrimination and serves as a collective call to action for all of us to do our part and drive gender equity forward.

Juanita Echeverry-Munera

Graduate Student Awarded DFO Scholarship

Juanita Echeverry-Munera, a PhD candidate in Dr. Mike Steele's lab, is the recipient of the 2023 Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) Scholarship. Valued at $105,000 over 3 years, the annual award is given to an exceptional PhD student working on innovative projects that will benefit the dairy industry. Juanita's current research focuses on improving methods for raising dairy-beef cross calves.
