- Ph.D. Student in Animal Biosciences with Drs Canovas and Schenkel, University of Guelph, ON, CA (In progress)
- M.Sc. in Animal and Poultry Science, University of Guelph, ON, CA (2017)
- B.Sc. in Biological Science, Idaho State University, Pocatello, ID, US (2011)
I have been always passionate about in Animal Breeding and Genetics from a young age. I obtained a B.Sc. (2011) from Idaho State University in Biological Science and my M.Sc. (2017) from the University of Guelph in Animal and Poultry Science, where I specialized in animal breeding under the supervision of Dr. Flavio Schenkel. I am currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Guelph with Dr. Angela Canovas, working on a project funded by OMAFRA that aims to understand the genetic and metabolic functions associated with the economically important traits of nematode parasite resistance and resilience in sheep by analyzing RNA in abomasum tissues. The gain of such knowledge and understanding of the functional aspects involving gene expression and its structural variations could help to gain better accuracy in predicting and identifying best animals to be selected as parents for the next generation.
